I went to New Orleans as part of a cross-platform project for ESPN on the 10-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. I produced six videos for this project, including these three.
A New Orleans tribute
In the 10 years since Hurricane Katrina, the city of New Orleans has struggled to rebuild while maintaining the distinct character that made it so beloved. Local musician Lynn Drury performs “City Life” as a tribute to the city.
The unidentified dead
Even 10 years later, no one is sure exactly how many people died as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Wright Thompson examines the undocumented deaths from the storm.
A symbolic statue
Hurricane Katrina destroyed much of New Orleans, but a statue of Jesus Christ in Jackson Square was only lightly damaged. Ten years after the storm, the statue will finally be repaired. Wright Thompson reports.
